Day 3: London to Brussels

Short summary of the day's travels: We left London at 8am, driving through the farmlands of Great Britain to the ferry boat to cross the Channel (which is in through French territory, so we got that passport stamp already). After the ferry boat crossing from the white cliffs of Dover, we landed in Calais, France, and were on through northern France, then crossing without delay through the European Union's nearly-borderless countries into Belgium.
On the ferry, leaving the white bluffs of Dover.
Awesome Moment: Learning of the history of Brussels' Town Hall in the City Center Square was pretty astounding. It is said that the architect, upon realizing he couldn't complete the building symmetrically due to spacing issues, jumped from the heights of the marvelous building to his death.

Can't really see here, but in the postcard picture,
the lack of symmetry in the building is obvious;
one side is longer than the other!

Blooper: (while not really of our own blunder, nature took its toll...) When we came into port on the mega-ferry, it was determined that the ferry boat's ramp was too steep due to the extremely low tide. This prevented us from disembarking the vessel immediately, which caused a late start for our arrival and tour in Brussels during the evening.
